    Things I wish were improved:

    1. MUCH less unrecognized software. It's unbelievable how many times I've had prompts just because CIS doesn't know what "X" is.

    2. A option to remember my answer for prompts even if it's not a specified vendor, so that I don't have to answer a prompt every time I open that same program.

Last but not least, a question:

Have you ever run into problems when software "X" gets sandboxed, or should every piece of software be able to function normally with those restrictions, just that it won't be able to do any harm to the system?

    Thank you! :)

i agree with you, in fact at version 4.1 is going to really take care of it, so they say.

have you posted those Question on their forums?

No, I've not, but I think I'll figure it out myself in time. ;)

A big reason I want the alerts and prompts to go down, preferably to zero obviously, is because I want to be able to use it on real novices' computers as well, simply because it's proven to be effective.

If you mean the virus database, it will check every half hour but there is not always an update available. It does update the database several times per day though.

yeah the updates are well really good, submit a FP then around an hour or so you get a update and the FP is fixed.

so they do really well with that.

I love the developers view and phrasing of Egemen: "ftp.exe crashes this is a minor issue", meaning it is easy to fix in the program code (the issue severity is not related to the user experience obviously). Still CIS4 will be a usability shift for the better. When it will be possible to specify different D+ rules for normal operation, execution withing the sandbox and my pending files, it will be even better.

Reason: normal operation exec's are trusted by the user, pending still uncertain (higher level of HIPS monitoring) and sandbox is the first toe in cold water execution (with highest monitoring, preferably with SBIE's buster sandbox like reporting acting as input for the heuristics module).

    Hi,

Though the detection rates of the AV is increased to a greater extent, I could see that the number of false positives are also more in CIS4.

I installed citrix online web plugin and CIS4 caught one malicious threat out of it.

I installed evolution mail client for windows and CIS4 caught two threats out of it based on heuristics.

Both the above two programs are legitimate ones.

Has any one noticed this increased number of false positives with CIS4?

    Thanks,
    Balaji.

AV is set to stateful, not even on-access.

    Thanks,
    Balaji.

What setting did u select for the real-time heuristics? High, or Low?

If you've set it to High, could explain why ur getting a lotta FP's.

The AV does an awesome good job with heuristics set just to Low as well. So far i hav got only a couple of FP's.

I have to set on the heuristic settings. I did not change anything on that. So, it should be default.

Anyway, I will double check and post.

    Thanks,
    Balaji.
