    What is Comodo Cleaning Essentials?

    Simple. CCE is a set of tools we created for cleaning the infected computers. The main application, CCE, is a powerful virus, spyware, rookit scanner and cleaner. It has many advanced scanning and cleaning techniques that are not present in CIS yet. And then we have a powerful tool called Killswitch, which is purely for experts to diagnose *EVERYTHING* in a computer. Give it a try!

    CCE features:
    * Portable: No installation is necessary!
    * DACS, Distributed and Collaborative Scanning, http://www.melih.com/2010/12/23/ant...tecting-criminals-not-anymore-thanks-to-dacs/
    * Rootkit and hidden file/key scanner
    * Aggressive file removing capabilities
    * KillSwitch, advanced system activity monitoring tool

    Now at least seems that DACS is working fast, in 1 min or less I got all the results

    I know Killswitch is working very fast now, but what about the scans of CCE? Last time I tried it I has to kill the scan as it was going on about 1.5 hours. Were they able to speed that up at all?

    Check the options of CCE, in the last version I would say that the setting

    "Do not scan files larger than X" was in 20 Mb now is in 5Mb so should be faster.

    The problem with CCE is that because it uses the Cloud to scan some files the scan time can take longer, the same happens with Comodo AV.

    If I remember well with the version 1.3 I the full scann, checked my HD with more or less 95GB in a bit less than 2 hours, with the setting of the files in 20 Mb.

    You can always try the Custom scan and select "Scan critical areas".

    I dont know if I a future they will add some kind of fast or flash scann like malwarebytes or Hitmanpro

    Good to know. I've just downloaded (for testing) the old one.
    Thanks.
    So far, I like so much CCE. Killswitch is perfect.

    Best regards.

    Great tool! All-around tools and features to get rid of malware merged in one single app. Too bad Comodo's violating GPL... :thumbd:

    Comodo is violating the GPL? :D how?
    They will release the source code together with the final release, now is a restricted beta, the devs of process hacker has been helping to the development of Killswitch.

    When the software will be fixed the source code will be released here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/killswitch/

    @Mops21: Thanks as well.

    Still takes forever "Activating the new updates". At least it's easily solved by restarting the program.

    Gonna see if my other bug is corrected soon. Corrected!

    Can CCE be used to check downloaded files prior to opening?

    Yes, with a custom scan. If it says it scanned 0 items, then change your file size limits.
