I recently got a lifetime license of Outpost Pro, and so dont use CIS anymore. I just wanted to know about Comodo's AV. How does it fair in detection? I have Outpost to protect me from anything nasty while browsing. But i'm not very certain on Comodo's AV. I know there's Avira (which i have installd as On-Demand only), but i just wanted to know if there are any recent test with Comodo's AV.

    Cheers!

i think Comodo AV still has some way to go before catching up with known AVs detection

Comodo's Av is still very young and troublesome, i do not advise using it at this time, other vendors have experience on their side while Comodo is new to the AV thing, maybe give it some time then try it (personally though i wuldnt use the Comodo AV ever)... but thats just me and i have my reasons

CIS's strongpoint is not the AV, yet. :)

I personally have it turned off, and just use the firewall and HIPS.

    Thanks guys.

I think i'm gonna stick with Avira for now. I did have a lotta FP'S when i used CIS. For some reason it used to detect a lotta unistallers as malware. Still a great product though.
I cant to test avast! 5.

Apart from the fact that the detection is still relatively untested, I've also found it has a lot of FPs (comparable to something like A-squared).

I am sure if someone would suggest Melih to enter his AV in
the latest AV-comparatives test,he would be on it like a dog on a bone.

    I mean why not?

Frankly I got to say what you all say is pretty much true about the FPS. I ran the CIS on two system both reported different stuff. I mean MSCONIFIG was a virus come on already. So the Firewall is pretty tight, just the AV is very weak for detection. Like shooting craps, miss one you miss another one.

I was running PCT IS 2009 lastest one boy that's was working great until Firefox 3.5.1 crashed the system. Tried Opera 9.6 once that crashed you can never recover. Once you remove PCT IS 2009 all is well again. Rising RFW and RAV these seem to be using so much memory and RFW was blocking the local network and a few software I use to run server won't connect to the clients. It's was RFW.

I figured out how to remove the Nag screens in Avira PF so I might give that a try. CIS 2009 without AV installed with AViria should be interesting..

Does PCT stand for PCTools firewall?I know this firewall is not compatible with some softwares. And now it seems this problem is not solved.

Comodo's AV seems not to be very good and there are many things needing improving.

Wow! isn't that over-kill? Or are you running one as just on-demand?

Don't know about PCTFWP the 4 and 5,seems drag the system. Comodo doesn't seem that way. AV has FPS but they all do. How don't know if you can run MSE with Comodo I guess it could be done.

"PCT IS 2009" in tipstir's post is PC Tools Internet Security which includes PC Tools Firewall.

    Yes PCT = PC Tools
    Yes FWP = Firewall Plus
    Yes IS = Internet Security

I know they're working on improving the IS 2009 it has high CPU. But the standalone PCT FWP 5x doesn't have that issue.
