Comodo announced a beta version of KILLSwitch that includes a new module called Autoruns.
    http://forums.comodo.com/empty-t76995.0.html
They say Autoruns code is Comodo's own but if you look at the snapshot you'll immediately see the resemblance to Sysinternals program.

    What do you think?

They changed it a tiny bit, but yes, I'd say it looks way too similar to Sysinternals Autoruns. Then again, my vision may not be that great...

We have similar view in autorun tab in Malware Defender and it's very hard to say that this module is just taken from Autoruns...but when we look at the history of Comodo's KillSwitch we know that it had some problems with ProcessHacker. Maybe it's the way of Comodo that they silently "take "programs from other vendors

The snapshot I posted was removed from the Comodo's forum thread where I took it from.
Languy99 posted a review of the new KILLSwitch in his YouTube channel, only to delete it some hours later.

This hapenned a couple of days after I started a thread at Sysinternals forums.
    Coincidence.

Do you think this autorun module is in fact completely own (Comodo) module? GUI is not so important matter...code?...already "yes"...

Even if the code is different, they're still appearing to do exactly the same thing as Sysinternals's Autoruns with an almost identical interface.

I like Killswitch though - as there are further checks to files other than just verifying signatures. Killswitch uses further whitelisting and blacklisting from Comodo's own database. Perhaps their implementation of autoruns will also share this advantage. With Killswitch and Comodo Autoruns, effectively it would be like a "manual 'quick scan'" but without a proper registry or file scan e.g. like Malwarebytes does.

Well, SysInternals is basically Microsoft. I doubt Comodo would be dumb enough to risk lawsuits from Microsoft. Then again, it is Comodo we're talking about so who knows.

Killswitch looks like a cross between process explorer and autoruns but wait for evidence before jumping the gun, saying that the gui is a complete copy :cautious: btw some sysinternals source used to be public.

It,s not hard to code an autorun/ kill switch type application. Internet is flooded with such free apps.

    Me too. :)

I mean: for a software developer it must not be so hard that he goes for stealing other,s code.

It looks similar, but how different can you get with a program such as this? I don't think there's a way to revolutionize the paradigm.

Resemblance is too uncanny, but not surprising.

Comodo Autoruns looks identical to Sysinternals Autoruns even the options are the same, of coarse the GUI is a little different with a few extras, but there is no way that I will believe Comodo wrote their own code while making it or you would be able to see more differences.

Makes me wonder why they lied to their forum members when they ask them about it.
