After confirming the launch date, Oppo has now officially launched ColorOS 13, based on Android 13 and detailed the latest release.

The first two smartphones eligible for the ColorOS 13 update – as you’d expect – are the flagship Find X5 Pro and China-only Find N series foldable. This duo has been eligible for a prerelease beta phase, which will end over the coming weeks.

A core tenet of ColorOS 13 is what Oppo is calling “Aquamorphic Design.” Greater attention has been paid to animations while the look and feel are said to have been inspired by the “changing colour of light between sunrise and sunset at sea level.”

A global rollout is said to get underway in the coming weeks, and Oppo plans to update nearly 35 smartphone models by the end of 2022. Devices in over 60 countries and regions are eligible, and it is claimed that this rollout will cover almost 160 million users.

Oppo: OPPO to launch all-new ColorOS 13 based on Android 13 on Aug 18th

SHENZHEN, August 9, 2022 — OPPO unveiled the date of the online launch event for its latest mobile operating system, ColorOS 13 today. It will be one of the first OEM operating systems based on Android 13 to be launched.

OPPO has been working closely with Android to deliver the best possible operating system experience on ColorOS. Back Google I/O in May, OPPO announced that the OPPO Find N and OPPO Find X5 Pro would be among the first smartphones worldwide to receive the Android 13 beta update. ColorOS 13 integrates with Android 13’s underlying safety and privacy features, and provides customization features similar to Google’s Material You.

As for ColorOS 13, OPPO is kicking things off with a new Aquamorphic Design language that's vibrant and fluid. There are major tweaks to the notification pane, widgets, and changes to Multi Connect and Privacy Safe, ability to create large folders, and new privacy-focused features.

But the biggest change is the integration of OxygenOS features into ColorOS.

ColorOS 13 gets a new design language that makes it look a little more modern, and what's notable this time is the inclusion of features that were previously limited to OxygenOS. For now, that includes the Shelf and AOD styles, but Gary Chen, who oversees OPPO's software efforts, has confirmed in a briefing that Work-Life Balance will make its way to ColorOS in a forthcoming ColorOS 13.1 release.
