Cobol plays major role in U.S. government breaches

    Hum .......... Having previously worked for a number of U.S. gov. agencies and also responsible for maintaining these legacy COBOL systems, I can state that most run exclusively in "batch" mode. That is, these systems not only have no access to the Internet, they have no access to the internal network.

    Additionally, many U.S.gov. agencies where high security is required maintain multiple computer systems that extend right down to the hardware level. That is you have separate a separate monitor connected to a separate desktop computer connected to its own internal isolated network; one for Internet access and one for internal network access for example.
