People need to learn how to "side load" apps to their Android devices. Google Play is becoming a monitor and "yes" company for the authorities too much. I am not advocating installing maleware-untested apk's to your device. There are very reliable places to get thoroughly tested apk's for such things. Reminder and Warning: always run any APK you download from absolutely anywhere through virus total. The file will go through 60+ scanning machines looking for "crap" that is bad. You can rely on VirusTotal for this type of file determination. 99 % of the time the file will already have been checked by someone before you so the process then is seconds. VirusTotal keeps the sha-sum for all files scanned and uses that to confirm IF your file has already been scanned. SAFE!!
I doubt that you'd read the article. I think it has NOTHING to do with any MALWARE. It's all about India's SPYING on the VPN users! "India’s 2022 regulatory framework governing VPN apps. The rules mandate that VPN providers and cloud service operators maintain comprehensive records of their customers, including names, addresses, IP addresses, and transaction histories, for a five-year period."
I did read it and the malware I mentioned was for someone going out and grabbing their own apk before learning the process. Back to this thread. OK so India has pulled a few VPN apps from the Play store (and yes it is India and not google play - they are puppets). If some VPN apk's are allowed to remain on the Play Store in India they must be the ones willing to cooperate most likely. My point was that you can grab a trusted VPN apk from a known and dependable provider and THEN sideload it onto your Android device effectively being back in business without the "snoops" on the backbone servers. Users might have to port forward or other means to easily move past the country firewall if they have one. China tries but they are quite easy to beat. Hope this makes sense. The VPN providers are outside of India and therefore India's law means nothing and is not enforceable against those services. Same as China's wall.
