Cloud services use up internet data.?

Hello,
I currently use a mobile broadband internet connection.
Sorry if this seems a silly question to ask but if i use the cloud services of any security vendor will it use up more data than if i didnt use them.

I understand that by using the cloud function of some av,s that it needs to be a "constant" connection so would i be right in thinking this is using up more data.

Thank you for your excellent reply.
Im trying to save on data usage as much as i can and i have disabled the cloud function in my firewall and avira does not use a cloud at all.

Im trying to eliminate any cloud function to see if this saves me some data.
I was just trying to ascertain if stopping all cloud services will drastically reduce data usage.
