I am contemplating buying Drive Copy 11 for migrating my current Lenovo T61 laptop HDD to SSD.

Here is what I am thinking I can do. Please confirm if this works:

    1. Copy HDD to SSD that is housed in external USB enclosure connected to laptop via USB 2.0 port (using migrate OS to HDD wizard)
    2. Swap the primary drive from original HDD to the newly copied SSD

Will the laptop boot from new SSD drive?

I highly doubt it. This is due to win XP not able to copy the boot sector over through USB. XP is known to really suck in this department.

Instead you should backup win XP sitting on an HDD to an image housed in a USB external drive (like another HDD). Then plug in the internal drive SSD/remove the original HDD in your laptop.

Then restore the partition image to the SSD, assuming the drive size is the same or bigger. Afterwards the SSD should boot, but you still need to install the right SSD drivers afterwards to make it fly.
