Clone IDE HDD onto S-ATA drive ?

    Hi ... At the present time I'm using IDE hard drives , I was curious whether its possible to clone from an IDE drive onto an S-ATA drive ? Thanks

    yes should be possible

    When I have done this I have added the new disk and sata driver to the system as a data drive. Then rebooted


    Cloned the ide drive to the sata - removed the ide drive and rebooted

    I did this without too much trouble this week

    from : a Maxtor DiamondPlus 9 120GB (P)ATA/133
    to : a Western Digital Caviar (SATA) SE16 250GB S300 16mb

    The only problem I hit was that the clone process failed, seemingly unable to detect the drive after it rebooted itself, until I initialised the drive from Windows. After that it behaved itself.

    Hi ... Thanks for the input , I was able to do such , Once I maybe the Sata drive in the boot order first , It loaded the clone image without a problem , Thanks
