    Is it possible to backup an external drive (e.g. my laptop) without installing the Paragon software ? For example, somehow using Paragon installed on my desktop over USB to copy my laptop's drive to my desktop? I have Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Suite.

    If I understand your question;

    You currently have Paragon 10 installed on your desktop computer and you want to back up the hard drive from your laptop to the hdd on your desktop using a USB connection.

    The answer is yes, provided you have enough free space on your desktop computers' hard drive.

    BTW: have you already created a system rescue CD ?

    That's correct. How do I get the laptop's drive to show up on my desktop's Paragon so it can be backed up?

    First power up your desktop computer, connect desktop and laptop via a USB cable, then apply power to the laptop.

    Following that, open Paragon 10, select the Backup And Restore Wizard, and both HDDs should show.

    Provided both HDDs show, you are ready to begin the imaging process.

    *** You should have already created a separate partition on your desktop computers' HDD for the backup image.

    Good luck !

    You could also create a recovery CD/Flash drive with the desktop, boot the laptop with the media and perform a quick backup from outside of the OS.
