I'm new to the forum mostly just stopped and looked around and I'm not a prize winner when it comes to FW alerts that i do not known any thing about and this is one of them. I goggled for the answer and they all came back as maybe, could be, & no this cidaemon.exe started triggering my firewall and trying to enter into MSDOS.SYS i have blocked it from running for now can any one tell me what this thing is trying to do is it normal! I have never had this happen before. (Thank In Advance)
From what I can see, and yo have to summarise what you find Goggled, it iss the Microsoft Content Indexing Daemon which is part of Window's indexing service. IAs a result, like all such things Windows, it may tie up too much of system's resources on slower computers. It can be turned off/removed using MS's instructions in the link. See also: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899869, but from my understanding it should not fbe deleted outright. I have indexing switched off and have suffered no ill effects as far as I know...but that may depend on how you use your computer. Hope that helps?
