I would like to install Chromium. Is it safe to use the one in the synaptics(it is the old version) or should I add the PPA for the beta channel, I do not want to break anything, everything is working fine. I also found a stable channel for chromium, should I add this one?
I wouldn't trust the default repos to keep me up-to-date on something as aggressively updated as Chromium. Go for the PPA. Either the beta or stable version will serve you well.
I think you are refering to Chrome channels, not Chromium... any channel will suit you in my experience dev is currently quite stable and has the advantage of shiping bug fixing and security patches faster than any of the other channels.
go for chrome instead of Chromium it will add a ppa it self also there is tool called ubuntu tweak http://ubuntu-tweak.com/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu-p819C76M its got many extra ppa but you can install only ppa you want to no need to install every thing but its very good tool for tweaking ubuntu many good features i use this tool and love it
http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/ http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-linux/ I download alomost every month from here and use it. It may not be bug free but I am mainly using Opera.
yes angie i also face few bug problems from Chromium then i switch to google chrome stable not even a single problem i face also youtube videos are pretty fast loading in it i use chrome as default browser then i use firefox as second browser chrome indeed very light and fast specially for slow connection like mine

"Real men" use Canary: it seems to be becoming even more bleeding-edge than Chromium. And there maybe politics involved as well... Source
That's FUD. The author compared canary and chromium while the latter was currently built and uploaded. Some minutes later they were on the same version, and one hour later chromium was again more bleeding-edge (or so). Canary is only updated once a day. Chromium is built every hour, when a build fails it's not uploaded. If a few builds fail in a row it can look like Chromium becomes outpaced by Canary. But that's only a short time window till the next successful build.
