Google Chrome is starting to ~Phrase removed~, they released this beta: Google Chrome 9.0.570.0 Beta.

    With the change log:
    -several bug fixes

Why the hell are they pretending to do a major upgrade while it is a minor upgrade (not even that, just bug fixing).
It is just pathetic they are at 9.0.750.0 instead of something like 2.5.6 (at highest version 3) where they actually are if your look at real upgrades.

What is the reasoning behind this, trying to get higher than Opera 11 as soon as possible?

    Opinions?

Help yourself to a drink and calm down.

It's just the beginning of the branch. The relevent code will be checked in as development continues.

    Hmmm.....

This issue is causing quite some consternation.

Regular Chrome-tracker, Wolfgang Gruener, shows a hint of panic here (http://www.conceivablytech.com/3693/products/chrome-9-surfaces/):
However, even by more progressive standards, the version numbering may be a bit excessive. By the end of this year, Google will have gone through seven or eight different browser versions. Some may doubt the benefit of that strategy.

Are these concerns merely arithmophobia (http://www.anxietymatters.com/symptoms_of_anxiety/phobias/phobias/a/arithmophobia.htm)?

Can we expect a global panic when version 13 is announced (Triskaidekaphobia)? Will the help forum be swamped by That's it! Several expletives deleted ... it's back to FF for me?

Will Google Chrome aim to hit a googol before the next Ice Age?

    Questions! Questions!

Would something less controversial such as YYYYMMDD followed by S, B, D, or C calm frayed nerves? One can only wonder.
