Although it's only a minor nuisance, does anyone know a way to stop the developer mode extension warning in Chrome? I'm using the latest version.
Thank you Mister X, I found that site, loaded the policy files and opened GPEDIT.msc and found Google Chrome administrative template but I can't find the unique extension ID associated with the uMatrix Beta extension, 1.3.3.8 under: Code: C:\Users\my_name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome Beta\User Data\Default\Extensions This was an extension I extracted then loaded as an "unpacked extension" under Chrome. I can see all other ID's under the path for the other extensions I have.
How about to look in the browser > Extensions > Click on "Developer mode" The ID should show up now, I think, cause it does with stable extensions downloaded from the Store. Edit: I found it at Chrome Web Store: eckgcipdkhcfghnmincccnhpdmnbefki https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/umatrix-dev-build/eckgcipdkhcfghnmincccnhpdmnbefki
Thank you Mister X, I tried applying both ID's using the two suggestions, but I still get the warning for some reason. I'll just live with it since it's not a show stopper for me. Thanks again for your help!
You're welcome. I think you missed something in the process if not then a machine restart could help, dunno.
Maybe I missed something, though I even tried putting the ID's (which I copy-pasted) under the computer configuration template, restarted the laptop, but still no joy.
To see all applied policies, visit: chrome://policy/ But i always have seen the message if unpacked extensions are loaded. Whitelisting helps if you have blacklisted all extensions (*) and only want to allow extensions in the whitelist, but it doesn't remove the message ("Disable developer mode extensions")
Thank you for that info, @mood. well I resolved the problem. It occurred to me that because I had loaded the extension as an unpacked extension, obtained from the Github site, from my downloads directory, that was why its ID was not showing in the %userprofile% directory, and probably the policy looks there for the ID, so I was able to find and load the extension from the umatrix dev build in the Chrome store, its whitelisted ID now shows in that directory, and now there is no more pop-up warning Thanks again for all the help.

Google Chrome uses the scan results to determine whether it should prompt the user to remove unwanted software from the computer as it impacts the browsing experience. Google Chrome users may have two main issues with the Software Reporter Tool: It may cause a high system load when it scans the system. User reports range from it using 30% and more CPU while running. Since it may run for as long as 20 minutes, that is something that may interfere with other activity on the computer. The tool informs Google about the scan results which some users may dislike because of privacy concerns".
