updating Chrome to 8 will introduce an incompatibility with NOD's SSL protocol checking module. It is not a bug in the browser but an actual security improvement feature.

    workarounds are

    - disable NOD SSL filtering - no SSL traffic will be scanned at all (incl. pop/smtp), http on port 80 is still being scanned
    - excl. Chrome from NOD filtering - no traffic through Chrome will be checked by NOD, also not http on port 80
    - avoid Chrome for SSL connections

No reason to avoid using Chrome for SSL connections just because NOD is incompatible with it.

thats is not what is implied, it is one possible work around out of three, whatever is the more convenient one. as NOD SSL filtering and Chrome 8 are incompatible

Yes, but I meant it is no workaround if you have to give up your favorite browser. :)

concur. supposedly that is the nature of work-around, as in not good to give up features of your AV either to get your favorite browser going.

next up in line for incompatibility are FF4 and O11. seems it will be necessary to replicate this post with a different title then. and who knows, maybe even up for surprise IE9
