I have mixed feeling about this. As a grandparent with a gaming obsessed grandson (soon to be 15), I strongly believe his online/gaming access needs to be drastically cut back.

But I also feel that is the parent's responsibility, and not the governments.

However, it is a fact when parents restrict such access, it can and often does cause resentment between the child and parents.

So, if that access is limited by the government and not the parents, the child cannot blame the parents and so [hopefully] that will help maintain peace in the home.

As far as China's restrictions, IDK. I think an hour each day would be more reasonable, and not just Fridays, weekends and holidays.

    This.
If you give up some authority in the name of peace soon you'll have neither.

I agree with pretty much all of that and I get where you're coming from. That said... does having the government restrict access not cause resentment for said government? And is that ok? It is preferable to resentment for parents/grandparents, but how much do we cede to them before it is too much?
