Also good to finally see announced it will included an advanced analysis system for suspicious behavior. Like I expected ofcourse.

Next to that the other announced features: Parental Control and more "Cloud" infrastructure. Still unannounced, but included: a more visible HIPS than in version 4.

I can not reveal anything, but I can guarantee that the simplicity is still present in products from ESET.

You will like the new generation product 5 :D :D :D

True, I have seen the GUI. It looks better than the current one (it is more of a major refresh though) and it looks like it is more intuitive.

EDIT: About the GUI, it was posted on here and German security forums. However they have been removed, although I have saved them on my pc, I won't send them to anybody. Clearly ESET doesn't want them to be spread, otherwise they wouldn't have removed the post in this forum.

But what is less positive: "At CeBIT, ESET will also reveal some details about the new generation of its leading security solution - ESET Smart Security 5 - which will provide a BETA version for testing, even during the first half of 2011." It might be a bad translation from Portugese to English, or does that mean we won't see a Beta this week?

For everybody requesting information about what's new, let's make a split-up between officialy announced, and still unannounced.

    Announced:
    • Parental Control
    • Impoved behavior analysis technology (monitoring)
    • More "Cloud" infrastructure
    Unannounced:
    • Refreshed, more modern and more intuitive user interface
    • More visible Host-based Intrusion Prevention System
    • Improved SysRescue
    • And ofcourse other expected (continious) improvements: better overall detection, better overall cleaning/removal, better overall performance (both on-access and on-demand) and better overall usability.

Some people here on wilders (including me) work for an ESET distributor and have seen presentations about this. There is currently no public info.

Well, it is actually more visible than in ESS version 4 like I said. Simply because in the whole GUI of ESS version 4 the word HIPS didn't exist :D!

In ESS version 4, you had in the advanced setup (F5) Intrusion Detection System, and Detection of application modifications (part of the Personal firewall tree item) and in the Advanced Heuristics engine there was a HIPS-like technology included (totally invisible to the users). In ESS version 5 it is visible in the GUI, it appears as a module of the program in the Setup screen, so probably in the advanced setup (F5) it will get it's own tree item, just like all other modules displayed on the setup page.
Also in the GUI, the Setup page is just for some quick settings, maybe it will have a small popup or right-click context menu, since the Standard / Advanced View toggle for interface seems to have been discontinued. The advanced setup (F5) will feature more options, like I earlier said probably it will have a dedicated tree item.
