Did you use the new 320GH hdd?

If not, why not? It would be interested to know whether it works...

    BTW:
I thing also that it is a bios issue.
Can you please write down your hardware, please? (MB, RAM, Video, CPU and bios-version)

I think they do. I don't clone anymore. Judging by threads in various forums, failed clones aren't a rare event. There are hardware and software reasons why clones fail. Cloning to USB external HDs is a problem area.

My experiences with cloning arewere very good. But I use it in following way:
Disconnect all HDDs in the PC which will not be cloned.
Connect new HDD to the desktop internally.
    Starting with rescue-cd.
    start cloning.
    ...100% success until today...

    Note:
I have no experiences with cloning to external devices.
I have no experiences cloning Notebooks (in that case I connect the 2,5"hdd to the desktop via an adapter)

That's not a good way to do it. It often leads to non booting clones. Dan Goodell explains why...

If the laptop HD is connected in a Desktop for the procedure it's not seen in its proper geometry while the image is being created, and the target disk is not seen in its proper geometry at the time the image is being restored. This applies to cloning as well as image restores.

Yes, I have been aware it since I read it here the first time. I pursue the notebook/clone-problem with interest here.
With my notebook (Toshiba Tecra M3) it works in 'my' way. Toshiba M3 seems to have no special geometry... (Thank God :))
    Thank you for this hint.

    The first post:
I just read about problems with SP3 and devices shown in BIOS.

It can depend on the hardware you use.
Please make a test: Plugin an USBstick and start the PC.
XP recognize a new device and can correct the driveletters. Maybe it helps.

    And:
Please take a look to this: Click

    Hello all,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

We can confirm that we have never faced an issue when any devices disappear in BIOS after using our software. Our software can just transfer data between some information storage (HDD's, flash drives etc) but it unable to do anything with CD\DVD drives recognizing in BIOS.

In Windows - yes, it's possible that some drivers are missing after recovery\clone, but not in BIOS.

    Thank you for your understanding.
