During installation of CCleaner I was offered a Chrome install. I haven't seen that in the last year. But it isn't difficult to remove a tick.

To all of you worried about the standard installer, and like to wait for the slim build to "keep your machine clean" (or whatever) why don't you all use the portable version that doesn't install on your machine? If "cleanness" is what you're after, then the portable version should be what you are using.

Sorry if I offended. Just having some fun. Seemed funny at the time anyway.

You didn't offend, *no* worries. It's the FUD spreaders that offend. I like to drop by the CCleaner threads and have some fun as well. It's not all security 100% of the time - all the time. The demise of Slim build is ETA - as far as I see it. There is no official announcement that one can point to at this point.

I honestly don't understand that either. Not only can the portable version be used as a true "portable", users of the installed version can unzip the portable version right on top of an existing installation (see post #4 by "Nergal" in the link provided by hayc59 above).

That Major Geeks blog does indeed sound like FUD, or just plain ignorance, unless the author has some inside info that we don't. The slim builds are always pulled from the builds page when a new version of CCleaner arrives. About 2-5 business days later it shows up. The cycle continues.

Strange. I installed the new *regular* CCleaner version on top of the slim version I had and no additional stuff or programs such as google Chrome, etc. was added so it looks the same as the slim version always was.

Only explanation to their story as I see it, is that MG didn't know and had never seen that the Slim build is always taken offline when a new version is released. But this Slim build was released record fast only 1 day after the standard release. :D
