(Only today realized that "Restore default settings", under Advanced Settings, restores all Ccleaner settings... very useful)

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've noticed numerous times here that folks just say "un-check" and you have the slim version. Also the next page that comes up, un-check Chrome!

I love how they always say "New improved graphics and icon." That's debatable, but performance does seem quite a bit better this time.

I also question the value of a duplicate file finder. I left the default settings where they are, and did a search and it came up with nothing. Besides system files and all the other files it ignores by default, would a person really have all that many duplicate files? Just seems like unnecessary bloat.

duplicate file finder...does CCleaner search and match by hash or something similar? If two files are the same except for name can CCleaner find them (for instance two mp3 files but each have different names)?

 

You can match by size and specify file types to include. Often, mp3s with identical sizes will be the same file, especially if they're in the same folder, but not always. The "Include" dialog is set up just like include in the main program so they might work the same, I don't know though.

Wow, even on my performance machine/Gaming Rig, I can notice a speed difference in the new CCleaner (Opening of the program, etc.) Very Nice!

Like others already have posted too, I am also not a fan of duplicate file finders.
I have removed that option.
