I thought I would record my results in trying to capture sysinfo output from the Linux rescue environment - using a usb stick rather than a floppy disk drive.

but it failed with my 2GB*2 FAT Corsair USb stick - I got errors with the mount command. Not only that the cat /proc/partitions command did not reveal any extra partitions with the USB stick present - even though the OS detected it being inserted and removed.

I tried a PEAK 128MB FAT USB stick and this was visible under cat /proc/partitions, but the mount command still gave an error #16. However, it still mounted successfully using 'mount -t vfat' and I managed to transfer the sysinfo.
