Anyone having any luck updating Vista since the idiotic new update thing started? For the last two months the Download Center has not had any security updates for Vista, and the only ones for Vista at the M$ Update Catalog are security and quality patches for dot NET Framework. And of course I can't get Windows Update on the computer to work, just sits there forever checking but produces nothing. If there are updates available somewhere I'd like to try and get them. Any advice? Thanks.

plat, you searched for a full KB number you already had, correct? If I want to find all the latest ones for Vista, but don't know the number, what would I search for? If I just search for Vista, the most recent one I get is from from 2015, but there are clearly more recent ones. (FYI, for some reason the first link defaults to the oldest first when you open the page, if you click the "Last Updated" column it shows the ones from 2015.)

If I search for Vista 2016, this is what I get.

mood, that's actually good news. But as long as they are still available I'd like to get them. :)

plat that was just what I needed, thanks. :thumb: I installed the ones from your link and rebooted. Tried Windows Update again and it found 20 important updates. I'm good for now, but I still can't understand why I can't find them in the Update Catalog. Clearly there are still a lot of updates for Vista.

You must maintain your machine in tiptop shape, at least you bought yourself some time. Sometimes not all available updates show up at once, maybe try again in a few days or whenever it suits.

Have you given a thought to moving on to another operating system? Like mood pointed out, end-of-life is near for Vista. I wonder if it's possible theoretically to install Windows 10 on a Vista machine nowadays? This is rhetorical, mind you! Windows install disks aren't cheap, it would be nice to use your current product key on a newly-installed OS. I wonder if someone has tried this already?
