I still can't update ewido 4. The last time was 28/6/2006.
Eversince I got the message that failed to connect to server Ewido.
Please notice that I dont use any firewall, my system has Win XP SP2.
The manual update does not work either, but that's a known bug.
    What should I doo_O

I still have the error failed to connect to the server occassionally these few days, but exiting and restarting ewido get the updater working again.

I read a post that I could download the whole signature database from a link given by P.Ewido for manual downloading.
I download the .exe file under the ewido/signatures/ folder and executed it.
The result was to create many .dat files, I guess these are the signature updates, right?
I exit and restart the program. It says the last update was in 28 June 06.
Seems can't recognise the .dat files....I have also do several restarts of my PC with no result.
Any idea to complete the manual updateo_O
    :)

Yes it has been answered very well.
There is no reason for the second one.

    Thanks Yannis,

Are you still experiencing problems in updating the program in regards to "failed to connect to server" ?

Hopefully I will not duplicate with some of the questions I ask given the fact you may have already been asked these questions in the numerous posts you have made in other threads concerning this matter :doubt:

    1) What happens if you attempt to go to http://update.ewido.net with your browser ?
    2) Are you using a Hosts file and if so have you checked good for any entries dealing with ewido ?
    3) Does this account have Administrator rights ?
    4) Please look in you Program Files\ewido anti-spyware 4.0 folder for a file named error.txt and open that with notepad. Then copy\paste that info to a new post in this thread Please.
    5) Are you experiencing problems with any of your other Security\Privacy software as it relates to update attempts ?

I've noticed that for the last two or three days that the auto update has failed and I have had to manually update, even though the program is set to auto update every 60 minutes. Auto update worked until recently. I checked the logs, as suggested in the previous post, and found multiple entries in the error.txt file of this: "Error, failed to connect to server, Value: 00002741, Position: .\DownloadHttp.cpp, 287" Any idea what has happened? Thanks.

[Edit: I ran the installer again, over the top, and afterward, I got a bubble saying the automatic update installed successfully. So, hopefully that fixed it.]

    Thanks for the post
    1. I see a big e in the site you wrote about.
    2. Where is the Host file located in Win XP SP2?
3 I have admin rights but the user name is not "administrator", if that matters....
    4. Here is the error.txt file :

    5. I can update normally all other security software, antivirus, antispyware etc.
    I hope it helps
    :)

~note....shortened length of error.txt file since they were all either 274D or 2751 values....Bubba~
