I recently purchased the 3-license version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. My wife's laptop has AVG Free 8 on it. I uninstalled AVG and then went to install Kaspersky on it. Kaspersky still sees AVG on the machine and won't install.
I can't figure out how to uninstall AVG Free completely. The installer is obviously leaving something left over but I can't figure out what it is.
    Can anyone offer any suggestions?

You can try #288 on this page. I know it states 7.5 but know of no reason it will not work for 8.

I've heard that the appropriate one of these will do the job.
For some odd reason, this page is not easy/straightforward to locate at the AVG site.o_O
    Must be unintentional.

You may need to reset the security centre - which basically involves stopping some services and deleting the wbem repository folder (Google for it) afterward.

Good find. The first thing I did was Google for it with ZERO luck.

ThunderZ is correct, the Uninstall procedure for AVG 8.0 Free is the same.

Tarq57, the AVG Remover mention is mentioned as part of the FAQs but for the AVG 8.0 Paid version only which has more components than the Free.

Izzy Here, if everything else fails, Revo Uninstaller will do the job.

    JRViejo,
didn't realize, that (so thanks) but is there any reason why it shouldn't work?
As said, I have heard of it working before, and it appears there are no restrictions on downloading it.

Tarq57, the AVG Remover tool has been mentioned in the AVG Free Forums before, and one would think that it should work, yet it's not mentioned anywhere in the Free version FAQs nor is it available for download from the Free site. So Caution to Izzy Here if that tool needs to be used.

It does state on the removal download page that it should only be used after repeated attempts\failures to uninstall AVG normally have failed.

    Thanks all!
I ended up going to the Kaspersky Forums and found an answer there that worked. I downloaded a zip file called AVG8 and inside was a small program called KLeaner. It took about a second to run the program and I was able to install Kaspersky after that without a problem.
Thanks again for all of your help!
