I have been using BD IS for a couple of years with satisfaction. I use it on my laptop which is W7. On my PC W7 I use KIS, again with perfect satisfaction.
I selected those two as a result of tests that showed the BD Safe Pay, and KIS Safe Money provided more safety when using bank sites and other financial sites. Trusteer seemed to interfere with KIS.

Since both are due to expire in a couple of months, and a 3 device is not much more than a single device, I decided to remove the BD and put KIS on the laptop for the next 50 days, and then go with KIS for both.

However when I tried to remove BD I could not do so. I used the removal tool, Control Panel, and CCleaner. I did this several times. I cannot find BD anywhere except the icon in the Sys Tray. I cannot remove it.
When I tried to install KIS it encountered problems and would not do so.
I finally ended up installing Avira Free for a temporary measure. However, I am not aware that Avira has something like KIS Safe Money. Avira seems to be working well.

I am at a loss as to what to do next. I should mention that I went several months back and Restored the system, but that did not remove BD, and did not make it work. It has and does, when the cursor is placed over the Icon, indicate that BD is still loading.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Jerry

I was having a similar problem with different software a year or two ago and I downloaded a trial version of Revo Uninstaller Pro. I installed Revo and then used it to monitor a reinstall of the product. I then used Revo to uninstall the previously uninstallable product and it was able to easily uninstall the product.

Since then, I have used Revo to uninstall a few security products including Bitdefender IS with no problem. I liked Revo so much that I bought a license.

So, I would download a Revo trial and try to reinstall BIS and then uninstall it. Revo should be able to handle it.

PS. This scheme obviously will work best if BIS is able to or allows a reinstall. I think Revo can do "cold" uninstalls as well but it clearly works best if it can monitor an install.

Sometimes security software requires it own proprietary uninstaller. You might want to check with the company's site/support section to see if they provide such a thing.

Thanks, All. I will give it another go this week-end. I have used BDIS in the past without such problems.

Update, I finally got it working. I restored to a 2011 point and then the Windows Repair tool ran for a couple of hours. I still was unable to install KIS.
Today, at the instructions of the Kaspersky forum folks I used the Get System Information tool was able to install KIS. All seems to be running well.
    Thanks for your help.

That's exactly why an imaging&backup software is a must have...
