Can't safely remove external HD

I used Trueimage 8.0 to make an image of my hard drive to an external USB hard drive. When I try to remove the external hard drive (to put it in a safe), using the Windows "safely remove hardware" function, it says "The device 'Generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later."

I'm assuming Trueimage is somehow still accessing the external drive, because I don't know what else could be. Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks!

Probably 2/3 of the times I want to remove my USB External HD I get that message. It's not related to TI, nothing is running and 10 minutes later, the same message. I just unplug it. No damage is done.

When I see that message, I simply restart. That frees the drive for safe removal.

Thanks everyone! It sounds like the problem isn't really much of a problem. But I'm going to try Unlocker out of curiosity anyway.

I just keep trying, after 2 or 3 consecutive tries you get "safe to remove hardware". Usually on the 2nd try.
