can't read from a DVD drive

Problem is partially solved.
I t does read from other data DVDs.

What it does not read is the Clonezilla-live iso DVD.
I have been using this program for years and have used it a dozen times
on this HP thingie.
I have an inquiry on the Clonezilla forum but have gotten no response
as yet.
This DVD is used by powering down the computer and when it boots up
the DVD is supposed to take control rather than Windows.

 

Don't know if it helps or not, but I had a plextor dvd drive that would read what it created, but no other drive could. Tried a few different burning apps and media, no difference. I also had a samsung dvd drive that would do the opposite, where it could not read what it wrote, but other drives could.

The only other thing I can think of that it could be is the type of dvd. -R and +R will sometimes refuse to be read, depending on the drive. It could be that your drive can burn -R but not read it well (or vice versa).

Thats about the only problems I've had with drives themselves. Anything else has been related to the media (like a bad batch) or the burning app and its settings.
