One of our machines somehow got infected with a variant of the Medfos.gl trojan. It took several tries, including running in safe mode to be able to clean the machine.

It appears to be clean now and running well, but when we first start it we receive an error message that says it can't find a file named mlavpl.dll in the appData\Roaming\ directory. We've tried to Google for this file, but nothing really comes up. Is this a valid Windows file? If so, how would we replace it? If not, how would we get rid of the startup warning?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

    John

This doesn't seem to be legitimate file. Most likely it was malware file. There is leftover in the Windows Registry that should be removed in order to stop seeing this error msg.

Can you download and run with Admin rights Autoruns -> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

When the log is ready, File -> Save
Save a log file as TXT file
Upload it somewhere (or here as attachment) and post a link
