    Hello,
I am hoping to install a second os on a newly created partition from a CD but when I read the directions from the manual under 8.2.2 it indicates "When instaling a new OS from CD, select the CD item in the Operating ststems area of the Acronis OS Selector main window." My Os Selector only show ,Acronis Secure Zone,Windows XP Professional, Boot from floppy A and nothing else. There is not an option that indicates CD item. Does CD itiem only show up after I try to boot from my Windows XP installation CD?Can anyone help me locate CD item?

As long as its a bootable cd, and in the drive, it should show up as an option in the menu... It will only show up if the cd is actually in the drive.

I'm having the same problem. Are your CD or DVD drives serial ATA?

Do you know if OSS supports SATA CD/DVD-ROMs.

If I run OSS from within Windows, it does detect the boot cd in the drive. However, it does not detect it in boot mode.

If OSS can't find your dvd/cd drive then it won't show up in the menu list. I think it's a linux driver issue. The same thing happens with bootable usb keys.

I worked around the problem by using Disk Director to setup the partitions how I wanted, hidden/visible, etc. and set the partition I was going to install to as primary-active. Then I booted from the cd normally and installed to the selected partition. You may have to set the dvd/cd drive to boot first in the BIOS to do this, however, as OSS will boot first otherwise. Depending on what operating system you install you may also need to reactivate OSS after the installation is complete.
