Truly unfortunate, on my high end desktop, I have always preferred KDE and Kubuntu is one of the few working LTS that I truly like.
I agree! Now, Jonathan wrote in his message that "Canonical will no longer be funding my work on Kubuntu after 12.04." Thus, we might have some years left until we will be forced to look for an alternative. And who knows what will happen in the meantime. Will Jonathan - frustrated as he might be - leave Canonical and work for another KDE based distro? Will Kubuntu nevertheless stay a vivid, possibly more dynamic distro which will be more community driven? I think there is no hurry to turn one's back on Kubuntu for now. Still a sad message...
i guess some guys try to make kubuntu base tablets / touch screen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1-n4HnhaYY http://apachelog.wordpress.com/2011/05/20/kubuntu-11-10-mobile-devices-sneak-peak/ and if thats happen that ubuntu have to face seriouse comptition with their own because a,b,c, try to create new things base on kubuntu/ kubuntu base give them good competition so i guess its good move to slow it down in term of $$$
