Cannot Update the Program Please Help

    Hi To all,

    I've recently installed ESET smart security beta 1b but I cannot update the software. Please help me with it.. and I've also removed the id and password which was set by default in the program to check whether it'll work or not o_O can anyone please help me with it ..

    Did you have any previous ESS beta on your computer ? If so , did your update problem started by installing beta 1b ?

    I would suggest you reinstall the program to see if this helps and ensure you keep the default UN/PW so that you update

    1. Download fresh new ESS from http://download1.eset.com/special/essbeta1b/ess_nt32_enu.msi
    1. Uninstall your current version from Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs
    2. Reboot the computer when prompted
    3. Delete manually
    - C:\Program files\ESET
    - C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application data\Eset

    4. Install again ESS beta . Use Typical install and keep essbeta for username/password

    No i made a clean install of the software...

    I've followed the instructions as u said but the problem isn't being solved... It's saying that the download is interrupted...Virus Signature databse update failed.

    Just leave it for now, it will update by itself. Happen to me, I just left it
    and after one hour it updates by itself. Looks like the server is just busy
    when it first try to update. I noticed there's a 6.4 meg update today.

    I have the same problem with updates here. I've installed Smart Security Beta 1b and updates does not working, neither manual or automatic. After downloading "update.ver" file, ESET display error message "Download interrupted". I'm using proxy server without authentication for accessing internet.

    The settings for update:
    Selected Profile: My profile (does not change anything in here).
    Update server: Choose automatically.
    User name: essbeta
    Password: essbeta

    Advanced settings:
    Program component upgrade: Ask
    Restart after...: Offer...
    HTTP Proxy: Use global proxy server settings
    LAN: System account (default)

    In "Miscellaneous\Proxy server" set "Use proxy server" and specified address and port for corporate proxy server.

    After trying to update in proxy server log following messages are logged:
    * [02/Aug/2007:11:18:35 +0800] "GET http://u21.eset.com/eset_upd/update.ver HTTP/1.0" 200 13679
    * [02/Aug/2007:11:18:40 +0800] "GET http://u21.eset.com/download/engine3/em003_32_n2.nup HTTP/1.0" 401 945
    * [02/Aug/2007:11:18:41 +0800] "GET http://u21.eset.com/download/engine3/em004_32_n2.nup HTTP/1.0" 401 945
    * [02/Aug/2007:11:18:45 +0800] "GET http://u21.eset.com/download/engine3/em005_32_n1.nup HTTP/1.0" 401 945
    * [02/Aug/2007:11:18:48 +0800] "GET http://u21.eset.com/download/engine3/em000_32_l0.nup HTTP/1.0" 401 945
    For "update.ver" file update server returns code 200 - which mean "OK", for other files update server returns code 401 which mean "Authorization Required".

    Reinstalling ESET did not help. At home, where I do not use proxy, everything works fine.

    Hi I have tried the same thing and it gives me the same 'Download inturupted' message. Have tried deleting all files in Documents and Settings and also in program files while doing a reinstall, even tried version 1a and 1b with no help.. :mad: :mad:

    I did have a trial version which expired before I installed the beta.. could this be the problem?? if so how can I fix this. do I need to remove something from the registryo_O?

    Couldn't it be that you use a wireless connection and the signal gets lost intermittently?

    If question is directed to me, then i'm not using wireless connection at work. I'm using wireless connection and no proxy at home and updates are successful.

    Problem with update seems (to me) not related with trial version you had installed before. I've installed ESS in fresh copy of Windows XP under VMware.

    had the same problem here, couldnt update after fresh instal of beta1b

    (i installed on 2 of my pc's)

    laptop - wireless.. = working updates

    desktop - wired = not working


    so uninstalled it, rebooted, deleted the dir "- C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application data\Eset"

    then updates ok
