    Hey guys,

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and I've been having some issues with ESET Smart Security Business Edition v4.2.58.4. It happens randomly and I managed to fix it by reinstallation before. Basically, I am not able to right click the ESET icon in my taskbar nor left click to open the interface, every other icons work. Could this be some kind of bug, anyone else experiencing this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello OriginalDeadman,

I noticed that you have stated that this has happened before and that you fixed it with a re-installation. Is there any more information that you can provide such as what was your computer doing before this issue came up or were you using any other applications and then this occurred? Any information about similarities between the first occurrence and this occurrence can help.

    Thank you,
    Richard

Does this behaviour go away after waiting a few minutes?

Occasionally I have seen somewhat like this on my systems as well: I think it happens, when nod32 is performing an "internal" task, mainly updating.

Until this is finished, the green (AV) or blue (ESS) "blob" is unresponsive to any clicks. As soon as the update is done, the user interface works again.

The only recent program that I installed is the "Matrix Screen Locker" (http://www.baroufasoft.net/matrix.htm). It is a useful, classy freeware. Anyone think I should do a total removal of ESET Smart Security with something like Revo Uninstaller then reinstall?

I used ESET's uninstall tool to do a clean removal then reinstalled ESS, also applied the update. Looks like everything's working now guys!!

    Thanks! :thumb:

    Hey guys,

I´ve pretty much got the same problem as OriginalDeadman.
I´m using Win 7 Ultimate x64. My eset version is 4.2.71.2.
I´ve tried reinstalling but that just made the problem worse. At first the taskbar icon would respond to mouse clicks the first 15 minutes or so after a reboot. Since the last reinstall the icon only works once per reboot! When I perform a right click on it the program window will open. Double clicks or any further right clicks won´t do anything. Though, I can still open the eset program window through the start menu...
Btw I have the update no idea posted on my pc.

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi benjmin,

From your last message I see that you have tried reinstalling your ESET security product. Please uninstall ESET on your system and reinstall using the Uninstaller tool. Please refer to the following KB article for step-by-step instructions:

How do I manually uninstall my ESET security product?

Let us know if this makes a difference.

    Thank you.

thank you for your reply! Last time I did use the Uninstaller tool. But after a fresh install nothing changed.

Running ESS on three machines - the one on the Vista OS suddenly stopped working, shows an orange Icon in the System tray and no amount of clicking will bring up the splash screen. Uninstalled (using Eset uninstaller), reinstalled a downloaded version (4.2.71.0), turned machine on and off, ran Malwarebytes and Spybot - neither picked up any infected files or folders. Icon is now red instead of orange but still doesn't work. No problems with laptop running Vista or desktop running XP.
All other icons and programs on the problem machine are working well.
Hope the boffins can sort this out - I've lodged a support request but not heard back yet.
