I have read through several threads on this subject, and have deleted and reset my backup drive. Still no help in stopping more backups. What is the latest fix for this problem? Do I need to completely uninstall Acronis, then reinstall it? If so, how do I get rid of every trace of the program in the registry?

I am running the latest version of True Image Home (Ver 10.0, build 4.942.)

I believe you have to use the Backup Locations feature. Search the forum for messages relating to Backup Locations.

    Hello,

I'm having the same problem where I've created a backup location (using UNC path, NOT drive mapping which was recommended by Acronis) when it was created I said a max of 15 files, selected it in the job creation, said after 6 diffs create a full. Then selected the other normal parameters and scheduled it.

The jobs run just fine, my problem is that it never deletes any of the OLD backups! I think I have 30 now where it should only have 15 total.

What's going on? TI 10 can't count or what? Before I couldn't get it to actually run the backup when I had an actual drive letter mount as my backup location. Now that I'm using the UNC path the backups work, but it just keeps going and going..

    Help!

    :)

    Thanks..

    -KC

Many users have reported problems with the number of backups in Backup Locations. Do a search in the forum for possible solutions. I don't use that feature, so cannot help directly.

    Hello Dewey and KaoticChemistry,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please make sure you are choosing backup locations the correct way, as described in this post.

    Thank you.

I don't think incs count in the file count, but when yu create the task for a Backup Location, you can set the number of ins or diffs before a new full is made.

If you pick a directory off of the lower part of the tree instead of under BACKUP LOCATIONS on the tree, the managed backup funcitons won't work.

Sometimes, something gets woncky in ATI and it stops observing file limits in managed Backup Locations. I still haven't figured out what causes this but it's happened to me twice since ATI10 came out and each time it happened after the file limits had been observed properly observed for many cycles -- these cases no diffs or incs were involved, only full backups. In those cases, I moved the backup files in a diff directory (just to keep them safe while I deleted the Backup Location and the associated task and made a new Backup Location and a new task, after which the limits were again observed.

    shieber,
If you're referring to the Maximum Number of Backups option in Backup Rules for creating or editing a Backup Location, incrementals and differentials will count towards the total. It's not just counting full backups.

And I completely agree with your comment in a different post that the Backup Location feature is by far the best addition to TI, and in my opinion makes the upgrade to Ver 10 worthwhile.

    Regards, CatFan

Number of backup limits don't work for me either. I have selected the backup location properly. I am on the latest release of TI10. Here is a copy of my TI10 log from this morning. There were no backups deleted even though the log says it started deletion. I don't understand why the "disk full" message during a delete operationo_Oo_O
