What give with KAV. It wont install if you have ZA or Comodo. I wanted to try it but I am not going to uninstall my firewall just to try KAV. I will stick with NOD32 unless somebody knows how to get KAV to install without uninstalling Comodo. BTW custom install doesn't work either.

The latest version of Comodo should work fine with KAV7MP1.

    :)

You misunderstood what I wrote. You can not install KAV with having Comodo or Zone Alarm already installed.

Maybe by not being able to install kav it's trying to tell you something.
    Heed the warning. LOL

Best way is to install KAV first indeed.
There are cases that KAV and ZA aren't working that well together but KAV and Comodo are working great together

Ok you all are missing my point. Is there anyway to install KAV without uninstalling your current firewall? I don't feel like spending an hour reconfiguring my pc just to try KAV.

I've always run KAV and ZAP together. I haven't tried KAV 7.0.1.321 yet, but if it won't install I'm not taking ZAP off. If Kaspersky can't get their product to work with one of the most popular FWs they will no longer have my custom. I'm sure AntiVir Premium will work just fine with ZAP.

    this forum is biased!
the problem is kaspersky is very touchy about other installed security products.

kaspersky usually needs to be installed FIRST before any additions, such as a firewall/antispyware or whatever else you feel like using.

Well forget it then. I have never had to uninstall a firewall to get any anti virus to work. NOD32,AVG,Avast,Antivir,BitDef anll installed without uninstalling ZA or Comodo.

ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite uses Kaspersky's engine.

You can still try but it is better and safer to install KAV first and than the FW

+1... Install Kaspersky first and then FW after and there's a higher chance of it working.
Dont know why, but many firewalls are in KAV's incompatibility list... users are VERY limited to which they can use, but installing KAV and then an FW work well.
Dont think the latest version of ZA works either way with Kaspersky... usually has problems

Perhaps Kaspersky is intending that we all use KIS.
That is completely unacceptable practice. We should vote with our wallets and ditch KAV if it is going down that path.

BTW - The latest ZAP works very nicely with KAV 7.0.0.125 on my box, but it seems I will not be able to install the latest KAV?

You dont know that and its only an assumption.
May just be incompatabilities between Kaspersky and other vendors.
ZA's older versions used to work fine. The latest doesnt.
    Thats not Kaspersky's fault

If there are incompatabilities between KAV and other vendors it most emphatically IS Kaspersky's fault. Whose fault do you think it is - all the other vendors?

I don't know whose fault it is and why there are incompatibilities... neither do you

    LOL :D
KAV is known to be sensitive to other security tools, its not per se a bad thing but it may be perceived as a limiting factors for users who likes to have their favorite tools working well with KAV....

This is nothing new, and not just Kaspersky. I can remember back when I was running ZA 4.5, and DCS Wormguard, I'd have to disable wormguard to update ZA, and had to disable ZA to update other stuff.

It can also vary from version to version.

In trying a new set up I have had a lot of problems installing Kav 7.0.1.321, and only managed to install it after exiting Online Armor 2.1.0.31.free,prior to which several BSOD.

I didn't expect any problems due to Online Armor Av+ featuring Kav but should have known better and although Kav is clearly running, a Windows Security Alert says it isn't!
