Cannot download executables!

Hello,

Anyone else with W7 that cannot download any executables anymore?

Suddenly, downloaded executables delete themselves when downloading has finished. Happens in Chrome.

I think it might be related with the recent cumulative updates for IE9, KB2744842, but I'm not sure.

I have disabled the 1806 trick but no joy.

 

This problem may be related to the recent Chrome update, 22.0.1229.79 m.

 

1806 lives in both HKCU and HKLM hives. Double check. You need to reboot to see the effects. Setting your zones and other internet options can also effect this.

I just checked and the 1806 entry in HKLM is set to "1".

 

Same problem but it was definitely 1806 here.

I also had the same issue the other day (well, more than once actually... I just didn't associate with 1806).

What's happening is that, for quite sometime that Chromium's child processes now run with an Untrusted label under Vista+, which is creating the issue with 1806. So, if one wants to download certain file types with Chromium/Chrome under Vista+, then one must first disable the 1806 key.
