I have TI6.0 and I never used it in the past because with CDs it was too cumbersome. But now I got an external HDD and I have successfully created an image file. I could create the Boot-CD in safe-mode, but I cannot get my laptop to start from it, even 'though I have set the BIOS to look on the CD drive first. My CD-ROM is connected via USB - is that the problem?

Does your BIOS support booting from a USB device.? I believe that was only recently added to BIOS's. What kind of computer do you have? What year? What BIOS?

    Hello nagyg,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/products/trueimage/).

Please note that the safe version of Acronis rescue media doesn't support USB and FireWire devices. So you will be unable to use the image on your external hard drive if you use the safe version.

Also Acronis True Image 6.0 is rather old version of Acronis True Image and it isn't supported nowadays. We recommend you to purchase an upgrade to Acronis True Image 8.0 at http://www.acronis.com/sales/upgrade/.

And about booting from USB devices. It depends on your motherboard. Oficially we support only legacy CD-ROM and floppy drives.

    Thank you.
