mantra, How many GB of Photos are in the tablet? Are they in the Pictures folder? How many GB of Videos are in the tablet? Are they in the Videos folder?
@Brian K no photos no videos only windows 10 , users folder and the program folder is almost empty ,i uninstall trial office 365 Brian is there a way to use an sd to the main memory ?
mantra, Strange, I wonder why the Win10 partition is so full? I'd expect it to be half empty. Have a look with Treesize and check what is using the space. What size is your pagefile.sys? What size is your hiberfil.sys? Can you post a screenshot of Disk Management? Can you post a screenshot of the contents of the C: drive? Just double click the C: drive.
You can use two flash drives to update Windows, with the second one being used for storage space. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-install-any-major-update-windows-10-low-storage-devices I've got a Windows 10 laptop, which also only has 32GB of storage and it's just too little storage space. No matter what you move to or store on the Micro SD card, you still won't have much free space on your internal drive. While you can install some software on the SD card, things like the swap file and Restore Points can't be moved to a different drive. As well as that, as you've already experienced you will not have enough storage space to upgrade to a new build from Windows Update. As I posted, there is a way around this, but it is a hassle. I was given the laptop. There is no way I would buy something with such limited storage.
My Windows tablet has a 64 GB drive, GPT disk partitioned by me to contain... Win10 partition of 33 GB, 45% free. I've installed only the software I need. No games. Data partition of 24 GB, 80% free. Also a micro SD card which I use for images. There are no issues with Windows upgrades. I just checked my desktop test computer. Used space in the Win10 partition is 15 GB. My main computer which started with Win8 five years ago and has been upgraded to Win8.1 and Win10 has 31 GB of used space in the Win10 partition. I wouldn't get that one into a 32 GB partition. I like my OS to be lean and mean with space.
hi i did bought it , but i have to fix it, outside upgrade w10 , but brosing cache , some programs and if i want to have some photos or music , i need an sd but if I understood there is no way to increase the main memory in some way with an sd right? thanks Brian , i let the os handly the pafefile.sys ,is't around 1gb hiberfil.sys is disablefd thanks
hi Brian sadly this tablet has only 32GB i'm mostly concernet about internet cache, users folders and so on could compress the unit a wise desition? thanks
I could get by with a 22 GB tablet. I'm only using just over half of my OS partition. How are you progressing with the screenshots?
Brian , format the sd in ntfs could be corrupted , i mean the files could be corrupted? about the screenshot , it's not mine , i don't know how take a screesnhot i try to use a portable software on a usb stick thanks Brian
Take a screenshot with the Win10 Snipping Tool. Save it as a .PNG I'd create a single exFAT partition on that SD card as suggested by the SD Card Association. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExFAT
hi windows 10 does not format the sd in exFat format only fat32 and ntfs about compression of the main memory? what do you think? thanks
mantra, you can use Diskpart to create an exFAT partition... https://www.groovypost.com/howto/format-local-disks-usb-storage-sd-cards-diskpart-windows-10/
Hi Brian i formated the sd ,assign a folder , and the update seems to work but is there a way to stop the updates? in the past i have disabled the windows update service but seems windows re-activated it about reducing the ammount of used space , yes just yesterday night ,now it's morning, i moved a lot to the sd , and yes i was able to increase the free space of os partition thanks Brian!
mantra, good news. Win10 Home or Pro? With Pro you can delay the updates but they eventually install.
Hi @mantra You coud use NoVirusThanks' Win Update Stop, to stop updates. It works on all versions of Windows, from XP to 10. http://www.novirusthanks.org/products/win-update-stop/
