Last week I upgraded my network from 300/30 Mbps cable to 1000/1000 Mbps fiber. While my Apple hardware reaches over 900/900 (wired), my Windows 10 PC cannot do better than 200/100 (wired). Note that this PC is rather old (2008 I think), but it has a Realtek 8111C PCIe GBE controller that should be able to handle Gigabit Ethernet. Can anyone with the same controller (Realtek is used a lot) confirm better performance than 200/100? What could be causing this? (Yes, the PC is old, but so is one of the Macs: a Mac mini Mid 2011, which does achieve 900/900) I'm already using the most current Realtek driver, version 10.53.1001.2021 (from 1-Oct-2021), on Windows 10 21H2 64-bit. The PC has an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU. Is that just too old/slow?
Not my strong point really but looked at a couple of links which may give you some ideas until someone with better understanding comes along https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ork-card/70b58a43-e662-4cf9-9a34-d740fa754076 https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...-products/intel-killer-ethernet-products.html
Accidentally ran some speed tests in Edge (I normally only use Firefox) and DL/UL speeds are up to 2-4 times faster than Firefox (even Firefox with a brand new profile). Huh?
