    The fact that there is even controversy about the right to repair stuff that we have purchased is bizarre.

    Consumers don't have other options, because there is a small number of companies and most of them do the same, because of interconnections between them and supply chain. I think this is fault of too strict regulations about intellectual property rights* making barriers for new companies joining market. It is in the interest of currently big companies from preventing new companies joining competition, so they are lobbying in favor of even stricter IP rights.
    *I believe strict law about physical property and energy sources is good thing, but intellectual property is different in nature.
