    C:\WINDOWS\system32\IEsp.mht (searchmeup) startup page

    (Mod Note: Member has posted a more recent HJT log, which has been merged into this current thread (see post #2) - snap)

    For the life of me I cannot figure this out.

    My startup page has become C:\WINDOWS\system32\IEsp.mht (a random links page, all go back to www.searchmeup.com/{something}

    Changing the startup page in Internet Properties works until I close the browser and re-open it, when C:\WINDOWS\system32\IEsp.mht appears once more.

    Adaware, CWShredder and Spybot S&D all show nothing, and are fully updated. An AVG and a Norton virus scan can't seem to fix it. Before I post the Hijackthis log, I have tried clicking the first entry (the one that references C:\WINDOWS\system32\IEsp.mht) but it just re-appears once I restart the browser.

    Here it is:

    Unknown trojan sending spam from my computer, ready to give up.

    Tried a billion things here. I've tried Ad-Aware, Spybot, Norton, AVG, McAfee, CWScrubber, Panda, MicroTrends Housecall, TDS-3, TrojanHunter...

    My computer is sending out spam emails, covertly. I am alerted to this by both McAfee and Norton.

    I'm 99% sure it's using port 12625 to connect to whoever is trying to initiate the sending of these emails, remotely.

    While 12625 is open and connected, various SMTP connections initiate as my computer sends out the emails.

    Anyway, here is my hijackthis log:
