I was using another virtualization program when I had forgotten my password. Facing the possibility of getting locked out, I was able to boot to a rescue CD which then restored an image of my system. Will I be abe to do the same method for Returnil (free version)?

You should be able to bypass virtualisation when restoring the system from an image, providing that any virtualisation was turned off when the image was made. I've previously successfully restored my system from an image when using Returnil.

Give it a try, but it may not work if you are using the unregistered free version. If that is the case, let me know and I can go at this from the server side.
