I am looking for a laptop for $600 or less. I have found an acer which has pretty good specs for the price. There is also a toshiba for $100 less but it has a a smaller drive at only 4200RPM and an even worse integrated card. Although it does have .1.4 ghz higher. Is that worth it though?

My choices are from futureshop.ca or bestbuy.ca

I have looked at all other laptops for $600 or less and this one seems to have the best processor specs.

I do know it has integrated graphics but i am typing this from a desktop that also has integrated graphics, so if i can survive with this desktop graphic card i should be ok.

Just give me the link if you find something better.

Id go for the first one too. Laptop drives are slow enough so Id rather have the 5400rpm and the Core 2 is better than the Athlon 64.

 ...since previous posting indicates an Acer, wonder if 'coolio' had take a peek at Acer's "Aspire 5052ANWXMi" yet?

It is based on amdTurion MK-38, Atheros 802.11bg with a 80gb hdd minimum (geographically dependent) and in a very very reasonable price range. See

I got a mate who bought 2units for personals, on a consecutive 2days spending spree just this november EOM. And i had configured 1 of the 2. Pretty swift (thou runned a wee hot) & decent!

    ...check it out.

    Hi,

    Fellow Canadian,

You may order it from dell's Canada web site. Search key word for Vostro 1500. (same price in number!) Today , CAN$= 1.02 US$

Buying from US, sans GST, but Warranty(service) ?

Buy from Home, damd GST/PST perhaps, but full Warranty(service).

    Good luck.
