    BurnAware 5.5 Released
    November 27, 2012

    Whats New:
    *Added "DVD-Video" mode to the file system selection of ISO compilation.
    *Added support of BIN image format in BOOT disc.
    *Disc burning SDK has been updated.
    *Translations have been updated.
    *Resolved the issue with installing some translations.
    *Resolved the issue with filling CD-text with FLAC tags.
    *Fixed the bug with ejecting disc after burn.
    *Fixed the bug with Ctrl+B hotkey.

    NP (bit late, but....).

    Anyway, the BurnAware site is currently showing that v5.5 of BurnAware Free has been updated on December 11th (today). I didn't notice any new features or resolved issues in the release notes. However, I downloaded and installed the "new release" and quite a few of the files are showing 12/11/2012. FWIW....

    does the free version display ads?

    Nope - at least I've never seen any ads. The only thing is they offer some toolbar (AVG, IIRC) during the install which, of course, you can decline.
