Build 889

    Have I missed it?
    Seems like there are no complaints about 889.
    Is it working OK?

    Working for me with no problem - Tested all of my environments with no issues. Also performed a full DVD IMAGE recoverys. Worked like a charm

    All images verified and ok.

    Overall, I like 889. Unfortunately the USB2 drivers don't seem to work when I use the rescue cd. It's very slow.

    Just a quick bench mark 826 vs 889.






    DeskTop System

    2.00 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP
    ASUSTeK Computer INC. A7N8X2.0 REV 1.xx
    Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
    512 Megabytes Memory

    Primary HDD IDE:

    WDC WD800JB-00ETA0 [Hard drive] (80.03 GB) (3 Logical Partitions)

    USB 2.0 external HDD:

    WDC WD12 00JB-00CRA1 USB Device [Hard drive] (120.03 GB) (2 Logical Partitions)

    Benchmark:
    Image backup with Acronis TI 8 from Partition 1 of Primary drive 13.7gb total
    with 5.7gb active to Partition 1 of External USB drive with High Compression
    and fixed output size of 2.18gb.

    Results:
    Release 826: Elapsed time = 11:20 Output size = 2.8gb
    Release 889: Elapsed time = 11:20 Output size = 2.8gb
    Bart-PE 791: Elapsed time = Cancelled after 1 hour with only 2% complete


    Laptop - IBM ThinkPad R31

    1.07 gigahertz Inel Celeron
    IBM 265625U MotherBoard
    Texas Instruments PCI-1410 Cardbus Contoller
    NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller (B1)

    Primary HDD IDE:

    HTS548030M9AT00 [Hard Drive] (30.00 GB) (2 Logical Partitions)

    USB 2.0 External HDD:

    Seagate 5400 [Hard drive] (20.00 GB) (1 logical Partitions)

    Benchmark:
    Image backup with Acronis TI 8 from Partition 1&2 of Primary drive 28.9 gb total
    with 12.7gb active to Partition 1 of External USB drive with High Compression
    and fixed output size of 2.18gb.

    Results:
    Release 826: Elapsed time = 56:55 Output size = 10.1gb
    Release 889: Elapsed time = 47:58 Output size = 11.8gb


    Looks like the BART-PE version is only supporting USB 1.1. After building the PE disk, Its will not support SP1 or SP2. For what reason I don't know. But I will check it out.

    This is the first time I held back since ATI6 back in Sept.'02.
    I'll be updating shortly.
