I have a Microsoft Intellipoint Optical USB Mouse. I'm experiencing no issues whatsoever. My laptop only has USB 1.1 as does my desktop. The desktop has a Logitech Optical Mouse. Are you using USB 2.0?

I have a Microsoft Optical USB and PS2 mouse. It works with no problems on USB as well as on PS2 (with the USB-to-PS2 adaptor).

Thanks for the advice which I tried but not very successfully (probably me). I dug out an old infra cordless mouse and pplugged this into my PS2 socket and it works perfectly with the rescue disc. I shall keep it installed now for 'emergency' use. Strange that an 'old' cheap mouse works and my new, Microsoft, expensive one doesn't. Will Acronis ever sort this problem out I wonder and I ask again why will they not publish a list of those that do and those that don't.

I thought I might add a postscript to the discussion. I did try another way round the problem as recommended here, but I would prefix by saying, it could once again be me!. I used F11 at the first sreen and deleted 'QUIET' and inserted
'usbmouse=off' but all I got eventually was a DOS screen which did a bit of scrolling before leaving me with a 'command - prompt' option, since I had no idea what to do next I escaped and re-booted. did I do something wrong?.

Yes, I leave quiet in and add a space and usbmouse=off after it.

    quiet usbmouse=off

MPSAN, I owe you one!, your tip worked perfectly and I now have a solution that I can live with. I am very pleased about this because, as I said earlier, I do like the software and in my opinion it is better than Norton Ghost, especially in rescue-mode. Once again, many thanks.

Great...glad to help. I hope Acronis can fix this already as it is a pain!
