Bootable disk?

  1. Hi
    I am trying to copy an image of our old server to a new one. The config
    of the new server is very different, while both have a RAID 1, the old server
    is an SCSI RAID1 config while the new box uses a SATA RAID 1.

    The old server does not have a CD burner so I used diskettes and
    created bootable diskette. Know I have the most current version.

    When I boot the new server (with the SATA RAID 1), I get as far
    as the third disk when the new server gives me an read error.
    Thinking the disk was bad I tried a differant box, this one a workstation
    running Wind 2000 Pro, it reads the third disk with out any problems.

    After reading through the forums about the issues with SATA drives
    and controller, I have concerns that this is the issue. The new server
    is a Poweredge 700 with the CERC 6 channel SATA RAID Controller,
    and the HD are Maxtor 80 gig brand. Am I screwed here or what?

    Really need a fix as I have to get this new server live by next week.

    Thanks
    Kingfish

  2. Come on guys, someone has to have an idea. Open to ideas has to
    why the new server will not read that third disk but two other boxes
    will.

    Hi

    It's just possible that the read/write head of the floppy in the new server is slightly out of line. Install the floppy disk drive from the old server into the new server and try again.

    You haven't said but can we assume that you're using the "server" version of TI (what version and build number)?

    Regards

    Hi

    Thank you! Will try that idea on the dsik drive. Yes, I have TI 8.0 Server for
    Windows. Will have to see which build.

    Thanks again

    Hello Kingfish,

    Thank you for using Acronis True Image Server (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimageserver/).

    Please accept our apologies for your inconvenience.

    Could you please do the following?

    - Create bootable rescue diskettes;
    - Open the bootwiz.cfg file on the first diskette;
    - Remove the "quiet" keyword from the last line;
    - Boot the computer from the bootable rescue diskettes.
    - As the startup messages stop scrolling, you can use Shift+PgUp and Shift+PgDn keys in order to scroll the screen manually. Please write down the last few lines of the output, or use a digital camera to make shots of the output screens and send the captured information to support@acronis.com. Please point out that you want to contact Marian Fadeeva.

    Thank you.
