    hello guys,

i'd be glad if you could help me here
my pc running Windows Xp wont start properly

when i powered it up initially it showed a blue screen saying something about physical memory dump.....
then it rebooted and showed a screen where i cld choose to boot in safe mode or last configuration that worked properly
any option i choose at this point just reboots the pc

then i used the repair utility on the xp cd went to the repair console and tried both fixboot and fixmbr
    didnt help much
on restart this time it said something about missing a
    \system32\ntoskrnl.exe file

dunno what next to do... i shudder at the thought of having to reinstall all over again..

i also tried to REPAIR the existing windows installation using the XP cd to no avail
    i'd appreciate any helpful advice
    thanks in advance

    Hi slimanno, ;)

ntoskrnl or ntoskrnl.exe is the Microsoft Boot Up Kernel.

This article may help you -> http://www.winnetmag.com/Article/ArticleID/14722/14722.html

If you don't think the boot.ini is corrupt, then the actual file may be corrupt so copy NTOSKRNL.EXE off of the installation CD.

    HTH, ;)

    Steve
