I’ve made a bootable CD from TI9 build 3,633. Booting from this on my wife’s computer, the on-board network card is recognized and can be used to attach to my PC for restore operations across a simple Microsoft XP Home network.

However, when booting from the CD on my PC, the Linksys PCI wireless network card (model WMP54G) is not recognized.

In the boot environment, Tools/Options shows a title for NETWORK ADAPTERS but nothing is shown under it. I cannot attach to my wife’s PC for a restore image across the network.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

    Bruce,

I'd be surprised if any wireless network card would work. For example, how would the Acronis CD know about your SSID or Wireless Security?

Wireless NIC's can work from BartPE but only if you are using WEP, not with WPA.

Good Point Brian. I would of course have to be able to configure the boot environment drivers for the network card. That doesn't sound like too big a deal to me, but then I'm not writing the boot environment software, so maybe it is.

    Regards.

I have the same wireless card. I tried to get it working in BartPE but with WPA2 security, no way. It doesn't work in the Ghost Recovery Environment either. Same reasons.

PS In BartPE the card is seen, the SSID is seen, but I can't connect to the wireless network because BartPE doesn't support WPA.

    Hello Bruce,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please be aware that none of the currently available Acronis True Image versions supports wireless network. Please take a look at this previous post for details.

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response Tatyana.

I'll just put a request for this feature in the "Wish List" thread. It would seem that for TI Home, at least, that wireless support would be a very desirable item. I'd venture to guess that the majority of home networks incorporate wireless links in them somewhere (like for kid's laptops).

Certainly having wireless support For TI under XP is a good thing, but since the Boot CD is the most likely to succeed method of recovery in the worst possible scenarios, it would be highly desirable to have the wireless support there too.

The boot CD already allows the user to type in IP configuration parameters for a wired network, if necessary. I would envision a similar option for Wireless in which the user is given the option to type in the SSID and WEP key, at least.

    Regards, Bruce
