I am running 4.24 on two computers and so far no problems. One is XP Home and the other is PRO. Both are loaded with security and no conflicts.

If it's not a "final" release, then why release it at all, especially as 4.24? o_O 4.23.6 (beta) would have been more appropriate. :p

Running it now and Kevin has fixed the problem of Catalyst Control Centre crashing BOClean. He also fixed the problem where the Democracy Player was crashing BOClean.

Kevin has pointed out in this thread...

    http://forums.comodo.com/comodo_boc...ll_be_out_soon-t8837.0.html;msg70629#msg70629

"SOOooooooo ... down to the (hopefully) "final build" and "final test" ... for those who've already tested 4.24, might want to grab the latest one and let me know how it goes - I think we're there now. And for the few who *wanted* to give it a shot, the file will be available for a VERY limited time (approximately midnight tonight US Eastern time zone) at the link at the bottom ... some reading though is necessary because there's a few RULES ...

BE ADVISED that this is *NOT* a release ... there may still be insects in the code despite all the testing done by a handful of very dedicated NSClean people who've tested our code now for years and know it inside out. But still, the problems which several reported here during this last test cycle were running code that had been tested and cleared as "ready" ... so if you're NOT in a position to rebuild your system in the event of any unknown "bad things" you really shouldn't play with this until some of the folks here have had a chance to blow up THEIR machine so YOU don't have to! White-knuckle rides are *not* the way we do things here. (grin)"

Before Comodo got them they only released when ready...right? Seems to me that was the way it was? I know there were other releases to address issues but never do I remember such drastic warnings. o_O

Kevin mentioned that was a "luxury" they had when they owned PSC. There also were no announcements about a "pending" general version update. When it was ready, it was released...but now it is all different.

SinisterSam, BetaNews has the same ftp link as in post#1 in this thread. Now, if you read carefully that post by Kevin McAleavey, he clearly states that the file will be available for a limited period of time. I believe he had good reasons for that.

    Cheers. ;)

As I understand it, software releases start as alpha, then graduate up to beta, then to RC (release candidates), & finally to actual versions for use by the unwashed masses. Many releases skip one or more of those steps.

Generally an RC is less likely to cause melt-down than a beta. Some folks will trial RC's but not betas. Even so, running an RC is still potentially an adventure -- embarked upon by brave souls in order to help out the programmers.

I always do an image before playing around with any kind of beta or RC. As to 4.24 -- it's running steady-eddy thus far.

Hi, folks: yes, BOC 4.24 has become a limited edition for now. I was able to d/l last night. And all the links including the one at majorgeeks are either vanished from air or reverted back to 4.23. This so-called RC version runs well so far. Perhaps not many bugs to be fixed or loose ends to be tightened. Final release date shall be around the corner.

If the OP had read the link he/she posted, we wouldn't even be discussing this. I learned an important lesson from the 4.23 version 'early sneaky release'. This was the only software that I took for granted as a proven program. What I didn't realize was that I was ignorant and naive and Comodo mixed it's gui code with Kevin's original code. I accept half the blame as this is my computer. Nothing went wrong, but decided to uninstall quickly because I realized my gullible mistake. I now wait patiently for new releases and then wait a little bit longer for the inevitable fixes. I also look forward to the new and improved version that is envisioned for Boclean.

    Cheers, innerpeace

I'm most disappointed that the higest of standards Kevin
had have been lowered by rush releases that are not
ready. It makes my blood boil that such a good product is being pushed out by the new owners.
4.24 works fine for me and many others !!

Kevin said possibly tomorrow. As of today the premature copy can't be downloaded. Check the Comodo forum for details.

I am disappointed that this inappropriate clause has still not been removed from the EULA:

"Comodo has the right to gather information regarding the use of the Program, including, but not limited to [!!!], IP Address, MAC Address, and admin email address to guarantee the proper use of the Program as granted by this Agreement."
